Social Network Analysis: Mathematical Models for Understanding Professional Football in Game Critical Moments—An Exploratory Study

Considering the Social Network Analysis approach and based on creation of mathematical models, aim this study is to analyze players’ interactions professional football teams in critical moments game. The sample consists analysis a 2019/2020 season UEFA Champions League match. models adopted players (micro analysis) game (macro were obtained through uPATO software. results networks indicated performance pattern trend more robust terms model: Density. As far as it concerned, we found that Centroid Players had decisive role level connectivity interaction team. Regarding main game, showed these preceded by periods great instability, obtaining differentiated following models: Centrality, Degree Closeness Prestige. We concluded approach, concomitance with dynamic properties can help coaches better evaluate their toward actions imposed opponents.
